Taverne La Brouette, Bussels.

La Brouette (The Wheelbarrow) is right in the heart of Brussels, in the Grand Place. It is a beautiful place, very nicely decorated and with dressed up waiters (although I wouldn’t say the service is excellent, they’re actually a little curt). There is a pretty wide menu at a reasonable price and, although I can’t talk about all the other things, I have to say the breakfast was the best one I had eaten in a long time.

To be honest, this is a good place for cold days. I recommend the big breakfast (full of energy to get through the day, yaaaay!). Ham, cheese, bread sets, toast, Belgian waffle, orange juice and coffee.

You can have all this for €13,90 and, although it might seem a little too much, I can ensure that you won’t be able to eat any more for the rest of the day. I seriously think of that breakfast at least once a week :P

8 hours in Brussels

A big project I’m a part of offers me the awesome chance to visit different places and meet great people. I had the chance to visit Brussels last year with the excuse of a Christmas cocktail. It was a super express visit with a couple of friends, during which we spent more time traveling than visiting the city itself.

The capital of Belgium could, as well, be considered the Capital of Europe. The main institutions of the European Union and other international organizations are there and it is the only place in the world where art, history and architecture can be enjoyed while the smell of waffles floats in the air.

One of the symbols of Brussels, a bronze statue representing a kid urinating.  In special occasions it gets dressed up with one of the over 800 costumes, which the collection currently consists  of. Almost all of them are kept at the Musée de la Ville in the King’s House at the Grand Place.

Law Courts. Bigger than St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, it was opened on the XIXth century during Leopold II’s rule as a glorification of Justice.  The stairs are flanked by Ulipian’s and Cicero’s statues, who guard the entrance to the great architectural complex which has been an influence to many other buildings, from Nazi Germany to the Justice Palace in Lima, Peru. hasta el Palacio de Justicia de Lima en Perú.palacio-justicia

I have many places left to see, but I am beyond doubt satisfied for such a short trip. I hope I can write about them soon.

Greetings, travelers :)
